Vicky Burford is a founding member of the UK based Charity, PANS PANDAS UK and the current Chair to the Trustees.
Founded in 2018, the charity PANS PANDAS UK has grown dramatically, having just appointed it’s first CEO, and represents an increasing number of families affected by the conditions. It’s mission is to remove the existing inequity around the detection, diagnosis and treatment in the UK and ensure that all those who develop symptoms will receive prompt and effective treatment..
PANS PANDAS UK have worked with a group of medical professionals (PPN UK) since before the formation of the charity and hosts quarterly meetings to enable interested medical professionals to discuss and share current practice, new developments and research opportunities.
There is also work being done with educators, peer to peer support, advocacy and media awareness as well as direct work with the NHS, BPNA, and James Lind Alliance with the ongoing support of the PANS and PANDAS All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) and other organisations around the UK.
PANS PANDAS UK have donated to existing research and will consider opportunities to do so in the future.
Vicky has a BA in Business Management and Strategy, and has worked in both the private business sectors and the charity sector for more than 30 years, running her own business for 10 years. Mum to four children, Vicky has one son with PANS and is honoured to represent the UK families and looks forward to supporting the work of EXPAND.
